You are Thomas Jove. As a drama teacher, you figured the lamp would make a fun prop for your students to use with their acting practice. The idea that the lamp is magical didn't even cross your mind.
You smile though, because it is fun to step into the realm of silly fantasies--even if they could never come true.
According to your own personal philosophy, humans make their own magic. Which is part of what drew you to becoming a drama teacher, the performing arts and the magic we create to uplift us from the harsh, tedious, or boring aspects of reality that can drag us down if we dwell on them with our thoughts.
(Yes, you are a true doubting Thomas when it comes to anything supernatural. A pessimistic in a way, but you choose to battle that pessimism with cheerfulness and what you consider 'true' magic, in the activities that uplift the human soul from misery)
You place the lamp next to all the other theatre props, almost tempted to rub it in a childish indulgence, but then turn away and gradually forget about it.
